Billions of Facebook users are susceptible to hacking and this is not limited to accounts with millions of followers, as is the case of celebrities and influencers.
Any random user, non-celeb, could be hacked and his/her data could be used for either monetary gain or blackmail, and this calls for Facebook account protection from hackers.
Although social media accounts and websites are generally prone to hacking, here’s how to prevent your Facebook account from being hacked:
- To prevent your Facebook account from hackers, initiate Unrecognised Login alerts and Two-Factor Authentication.
- Your Facebook account will not only be protected from compromise, you will also be notified of any unwanted login into your account from an unrecognized device.
- You can do this in Settings > Password and Security on Facebook.
- Go into Settings and then look for the security section.
- Then go to Get Alerts About Unrecognised Logins.
- Facebook will warn you if someone logs in from a device or browser you don’t usually use.
- Then you can check your account and log out any suspicious app sessions.
- You’ll be able to see who is logging in from where, and on what device.
- If there’s something you don’t recognise, erase the session from your account – shutting any potential intruders out.
- If someone has been able to access your account, consider changing your password as a priority.
- And add two-factor authentication to verify any logins with a text message – for even greater security.
