Zenith Bank, Nigeria’s largest bank by market capitalization, is currently experiencing total infrastructure downtime as a result of a fire at the company’s central data facility.
Zenith Bank’s services are disrupted, leaving millions of customers stranded. According to multiple accounts, the outage occurred at 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to one source, the incident began when a backup power system caught fire, causing a power outage at the data centre.
According to TechCabal, the bank is now attempting to switch to its disaster recovery infrastructure in order to restore all services.
The delay in transitioning to disaster recovery is due to the fact that not all banking services were running in an active-active deployment.
It means that active-standby services must now be switched manually.
Despite the delays, the bank expects to have its infrastructure operational by the end of the day, according to the source.
Zenith Bank has not responded, and the bank has not shared any information with consumers via social media channels or acknowledged that it is having a slowdown.
