Chipper Cash gets license to operate in Malawi

Pan-African cross-border Fintech, Chipper Cash has been granted license by the Malawian government to provide money transfer Value Added Services in the country.

The information was made known on Twitter by the company’s current VP of Global Developer Relations, Wiza Jalakasi, on Twitter as seen by Gadgets Africa.

The operating license was issued by the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA), in accordance with Section 39 of the country’s communication laws.

“A licence is hereby granted to Chipper Payment Services Limited (“the Licenses”) in respect to the provision of Application Services to provide money transfer Value Added Services with effect from the Effective Date.

“This Licence is issued subject to the terms and conditions hereto, and to any other terms and conditions and promises of performance that may from time to time be incorporated herein under the Communications Act and the Regulations thereto Failure to comply with any term and condition may lead to suspension or revocation of this Licence.” issue letter reads in part

As of the reporting time, Chipper Cash has not issued an official statement on the license acquisition.

This license acquisition by Chipper Cash would help cast the payments company in good light as the company was riddled with bad news after laying off some of it’s staff.
