The Vietnamese government stated that Apple supplier Quanta Computer has concluded plans to establish a facility in northern Vietnam.
The company, a MacBook contract maker, signed an agreement with the authorities of Nam Dinh province, 90 kilometres south of Hanoi, on Friday to build the plant at an industrial park there, the government said late Friday.
The facility, which would be Quanta’s ninth production worldwide, would initially occupy an area of 22.5 hectares, according to the announcement, without specifying its capacity or a time limit for development.
On Saturday, local media reported that Quanta would invest $120 million in the manufacturing.
